Meet Wei Luo  

Professor of Communication

Dr. Wei Luo's research explores the intersecting issues of gender, class, ethnicity, and sexuality within China’s discourse of consumerism and neoliberal structuring. Drawing from her Chinese cultural experiences and hybrid educational background, Dr. Luo has developed her identity as an interdisciplinary scholar who contributes to a sophisticated body of work in the intertwining fields of intercultural communication, women’s studies, media analysis, and cultural studies. 

Her scholarly works have appeared in reputable journals such as Women’s Studies in Communication, Feminist Media Studies, Visual Communication, Women’s Studies International Forum, Asian Women, Leisure Studies, and Gazette: The International Journal for Communication Studies, to name a few. 

Dr. Luo enjoys a variety of hobbies including travelling, studying French and Japanese, reading literature in various languages, learning Chinese poetry of Tang and Song Dynasties, taking walks in nature, and playing with her lovely Labrador retriever.
