meet Marcia Dixson 

Emerita Professor of Communication

Dr. Dixon (PhD, University of Iowa), has won the campus Outstanding Teacher Award and the PA Mack Award for Distinguished Service to Teaching. Her passion is teaching, which is why her current research areas are in sustainable teaching and teaching as we age. She also researches online teaching, which has yielded three top panel papers as well as three national publications with more than 1,000 citations. 

She teaches communication graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of interpersonal, addressing public issues, family, business and professional, research methods, communication in the classroom, small group, nonverbal, relational, and the dark side of communication. 

Her other passions are hanging out with her pup, Koda, and her family: two children and two grandchildren as well as doing Legos, watching football (go Cowboys!) and reading high fantasy (elves, dragons, magic).
