James Burg, Ph.D., LMFT, LMHC
James Burg is an associate professor in the Department of Counseling and Graduate Education at Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW), where he teaches in the Counselor Education Program. Dr. Burg’s scholarship includes two themes: the intersection of mind, body, and spirit, of which he has co-edited four books and was previously the editor for Synergeia: Journal of the Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology, and Religion. His second research area is healthy marriages, from which he has written more than 700 newspaper columns as well as founded two community marriage initiatives. Dr. Burg has a history of leadership on campus as the previous dean of the College of Professional Studies as well as its predecessor, the College of Education and Public Policy. Dr. Burg is active in a local initiative dedicated to reducing violence and increasing opportunity for underserved populations in the community, and he presently serves as secretary of the board of directors for Fort Wayne UNITED.
