The registration process for youth programs has been centralized through a system called Ideal Logic. Read this page to learn how to register both internal and external youth events.

The Process

Learn the registration process.

 

 

  1. Register your program in Ideal-Logic.
    1. This form is required for all programs that are not specifically excluded.
      1. This form must be completed annually.
      2. For repeating events, fill out one form for multiple dates/sessions. You will be able to access the form as needed for future dates/info.
      3. Due a minimum of 30 days before your event registration begins or the event start date (whichever is sooner).
  2. After creating your Ideal-Logic account, complete the following steps.
    1. Enter information for all your program staff.
    2. Check full name of program staff in Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender and Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
    3. If you have a positive result from either website, immediately notify Human Resources and [email protected] for a determination on the participation of that participant.
    4. Note: The program director may not rely on professional licensure or checks conducted by other organizations for your program staff.
    5. Note: Purdue-affiliated students, faculty, and staff are no longer excluded from this check.
    6. These checks must be conducted, at minimum, every 12 months.
  3. Ensure that everyone receives the proper training. All of the following categories must complete the required training at least every 24 months.
    1. For university students, faculty, and staff, training will be provided within the Ideal-Logic platform.
    2. External participants can use this brochure.
    3. Required training sessions include the following information.
      1. For frontline staff or volunteers, training topics should include the following information.
        1. Recognizing abuse and neglect
        2. How to report abuse
      2. For program staff, training topics should include the following information.
        1. Appropriate interactions and communications
        2. Bullying intervention
        3. Prohibited conduct
      3. For program directors, training topics should also include the following information.
        1. Adequate screening of staff and volunteers, recognition of signs of predatory behavior, strategies for prevenient child sexual abuse, age-appropriate staffing ratios
  4. Know how to report incidents.
    1. Immediately/while still on-site: call 911 or law enforcement.
    2. And immediately after, send a message to Purdue Youth Protection at [email protected].
    3. Then, as directed by the youth protection office, notify other university officials.
  5. Verification
    1. At seven days before your event, the programs with minors coordinator will log in to Ideal-Logic to verify your results.
    2. If you have not completed this process, your event will not be allowed to proceed.

Note: External programs do not need to specifically use Purdue training methods. You are permitted to use your own training and your own background checks. You are not required to file anything with us (other than to register your event), but in the event that something were to happen, you would need to provide proof of background checks and training during the audit. You are liable for all persons staffing your event.
