Elana Meyers Taylor is a five-time Olympian and six-time medalist, widely regarded as the greatest bobsled pilot in Olympic history.

A naturally gifted athlete, she excelled in multiple sports growing up but found her greatest success on the softball field. By age nine, she had already declared her goal: she would become an Olympian.

After an unsuccessful tryout for the U.S. Olympic Softball Team, her Olympic dream seemed to be over. But her parents suggested she try bobsledding, advice that would change the course of her life.

Meyers Taylor won a bronze medal as a brakeman at the 2010 Vancouver Games before switching to the driver's seat, where she captured silver medals at the 2014 Sochi and 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.

In 2015, she broke gender barriers by becoming the first woman to pilot a four-man sled in international competition and win a medal in a men's event. Despite a positive COVID-19 test, she won silver and bronze at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games, becoming the most decorated Black athlete in Winter Olympics history.

At the 2026 Winter Games, Meyers Taylor sat in second place after three of four tension-filled monobob runs. After 19 years, everything came down to one final run. When she needed it most, she delivered, capturing the long-awaited gold medal and earning the coveted title of Olympic champion.
