Admissions and Career Development Center trading spaces to enhance services

Beginning Monday, the Office of Admissions and the Career Development Center will be switching office locations. Admissions will move to Kettler Hall, adjacent to financial aid and first-year advising, while the Career Development Center will move into the current admissions space at Walb Student Union.

“This relocation is designed to enhance visibility, improve access for students and visitors, and foster stronger collaboration between key student service offices,” said Ryan Wooley, associate vice chancellor for enrollment management. “The new location for admissions is especially beneficial for prospective students and their families, as Kettler Hall is the first building seen when entering campus from Coliseum Boulevard.”

Another benefit of the swap is to bring admissions closer to PFW’s welcome desk, a clear and convenient starting point for guests who are unfamiliar with the campus. Additionally, being next to financial aid will allow the admissions team to work more closely with their colleagues to quickly answer questions.

Just down Mastodon Way, the Career Development Center’s new home at Walb Student Union will bring these important—and often underutilized—resources into a more visible, student-centered part of campus.

“With increased foot traffic and greater proximity to Student Life, our team’s new location will make it easier for students to access career services and participate in this type of programming,” said Michelle Kuhlhorst, executive director of the Career Development Center. “The center’s move will also make it more convenient for us to host employers for on-campus interviews and career events, increasing engagement and opportunities for students.”

As part of this transition, the Mastodon Career Closet will also relocate from Neff Hall to Walb. It’s a move that’s expected to provide more space to expand clothing options, give career center staff quick and easy access to the closet, and promote increased visibility and usage.

Back at Kettler, work is also underway to identify dedicated parking spaces for students and families who are visiting admissions at its new location, further enhancing their overall campus experience.

During next week’s move, admissions will not be hosting Don Days or other visit programming. Under the direction of Facilities Management, furniture and equipment will be relocated and immediate access to members of the respective teams may be limited.
