Digital Display Network

Challenge
Before the initiative, the university lacked an easy-to-use, consistently branded, and visually engaging digital communication platform that provided centralized communication combined with department-level content contributions. The university needed a solution that informed and engaged its diverse audiences while promoting university branding and aesthetics. Communication was fragmented, and the university was missing an opportunity to leverage advanced digital technologies to enhance campus life and the student experience.

Solution
The Office of Strategic Communications implemented a state-of-the-art solution by launching the campus-wide Digital Display Network. The team emphasized the value of clear, consistent university branding, deploying high-quality displays and a user-friendly centralized content management system. More than 100 strategically placed digital displays now offer timely information through visually appealing content that aligns with the university’s branding guidelines.

Result
The Digital Display Network has significantly enhanced communications across the campus, improving both aesthetics and information dissemination. The initiative supports campus safety by integrating with the emergency notification system, increases campus engagement through real-time updates, and effectively promotes university news and events. The feedback from the campus community has been overwhelmingly positive, with appreciation for both the improved information flow and the displays' visual quality.

Consistent University Branding
The Office of Strategic Communications carefully designed each display to reflect the university’s brand standards. Every piece of content reinforces the university's identity and messaging needs. The approach has boosted brand consistency and elevated the campus environment's overall aesthetics.

University Partners
The initiative’s success is due to partnerships across various university departments. The Office of Strategic Communications collaborated with Purdue Information Technology, Facilities Management, and other campus units to ensure the displays were appropriately installed and well-located. The result is more than 100 professionally installed displays across campus.

Centralized Communications
By leveraging the Digital Display Network, the university has enhanced centralized messaging and improved the reach and effectiveness of announcements, campus news, emergency alerts, and event promotions. The centralization has led to a more informed and engaged campus community.

Content Management
Employing a robust content management system, the Digital Display Network enables efficient content management, ensuring information remains relevant and timely. The system supports diverse content types, including dynamic content (pulled from Drupal), branded graphics, and live feeds, making it a versatile tool for campus communications.

Campus Engagement
The Digital Display Network has become an essential platform for engaging students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Its ability to quickly and attractively disseminate vital information has enhanced the campus experience, encouraging greater participation in campus events and activities.
