Scanning Electron Microscope Laboratory

Argast Family Imaging and Analysis Laboratories

Labs focused on industry.

Argast Family Imaging and Analysis Laboratories was founded by a generous donation from the Argast family. The labs provide electron-imaging and microanalysis services to the university and the local industrial community. The labs are well equipped with the Hitachi S3400N Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer (EDS) and a sample coating machine.

Environmental Engineering Laboratory

A lab focused on the environment.

The second of our distinct labs is the Environmental Engineering Laboratory, which is a comprehensive lab for conducting experiments and analyses of water and environmental samples. State-of-the-art lab equipment is available to support both teaching and research in water- and wastewater-treatment technologies and environmental chemistry. Several water- and wastewater-quality analyses can be performed, including specific metals, dissolved organic matter, molecular weight of natural organic matter, acidity, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, total suspended solids, dissolved oxygen, color, turbidity, conductivity, alkalinity, hardness, pH, and heterotrophic plate count of bacteria.

The course CE 366 Environmental Engineering Laboratory is usually offered every spring semester.
