Robin Newman named Dean of Students
FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Purdue University Fort Wayne announced today the selection of Robin Newman as dean of students. Additionally, the university announced the creation of a new Dean of Students Faculty Advisory Board.
“I am confident Robin’s experience at Purdue Fort Wayne, her formal student development education and background, and her immense heart for students is the perfect combination for success,” said Kristina Creager, vice chancellor for student affairs. “She is a champion for student success, a model teammate, and someone who leads by example. I am privileged to serve alongside her.”
Newman served as associate dean of students from 2008 to 2019, and was previously director of the university’s Center for Women and Returning Adults.
Newman has a master’s degree in education in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Indiana State University. She recently received the John P. “Jack” Ulmer Award for extraordinary service and long-standing commitment to minority and/or disabled students at Purdue Fort Wayne.
Newman begins her new role July 1, 2019.
UNIVERSITY FORMS THE DEAN OF STUDENTS FACULTY ADVISORY BOARD
As part of the continuing process of creating an engaging and supportive student experience, the university also announced the creation of a new Dean of Students Faculty Advisory Board.
The board will work with the Dean of Students office to review policies and procedures, advise on student conduct issues, and recommend new resources and programming to support student success.
Inaugural members of the new advisory board include Kim O’Connor, board chair and associate professor of organizational leadership; Adolph Coronado, associate professor of computer science; Kent Kaufman, associate professor of business law; and Isabel Nuñez, chair and professor of educational studies and executive director of the School of Education.
