Mayor, city council announce appointments to new committee, commission and council
Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker and city council members announced new appointments to the National Opioid Settlement Committee, Mayor’s Mental Health Commission, and Mayor’s Young Adult Council on Tuesday evening.
The Mayor’s Young Adult Council, consisting of young adults ages 19 to 26, will advise the mayor on issues impacting their demographic. The council will be set to encourage civic engagement through policy discussions, community service, and leadership development.
The group will also have the opportunity to develop public service initiatives and contribute to citywide decision-making. They will also be educated on municipal government functions and policies.
Among those appointed are Ben Burkle, a Purdue Fort Wayne student studying political science and history; Teonna Hardy, a PFW student studying music business; and PFW graduate Kaleb McGue.
