Preparation and Training

Through outreach and education, we’re responsible for monitoring compliance with various state, federal, and university regulations involving environmental health and safety issues.

Safety Training

Know your requirements.

Unless noted otherwise, all staff must complete the annual Hazard Communication Awareness Training. Numerous units have additional training that faculty, staff, and even students may have to complete. Find your area on the Safety Training page to see your necessary training material.

Designated Trained Individual

The expert on your team.

Each department has a designated trained individual (DTI) who is the expert for all your training certification. Your DTI is responsible for distributing required materials and collecting certification documentation. Don’t have a DTI or know who yours is? Get in touch—we can help.

Integrated Safety Plan

Safety is always in mind.

The Integrated Safety Plan (ISP) is our strategic plan for safety. It provides a structure for the dissemination of information regarding EHS issues. Working toward a goal of increased awareness and planning for EHS issues, the ISP provides a mechanism for safety self-audits and departmental indemnification from regulatory fines (per Purdue’s Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Policy C-36).
