graduate assistanships

SErving your school

Graduate assistantships are available on a limited basis to full-time MBA students and carry a service obligation to the Doermer School of Business that may include assisting faculty with research projects, teaching assignments, or performing other designated activities.

Position Overview

What we're looking for

The Graduate Assistantship (GA) position is an employment position. This position is not a financial grant or a financial scholarship. Applying for a GA position is just like applying for any regular employment position.

A Graduate assistant is required to be a full-time student, enrolled in a minimum of three MBA level classes (9 credit hours) per semester, and maintain a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 or better. Duties may consist of, but are not limited to, assisting faculty with research of various types; analyzing and reviewing data and statistical information; assisting with surveys and evaluation processes, etc. Assistantships typically require a 20-hour-per-week commitment and may be renewed contingent on a satisfactory performance evaluation every semester.

Graduate assistants receive a stipend paid biweekly during the contracted period, plus a tuition remission for a maximum of 12 credits per semester (special course fees may apply).

The GA position carries a service obligation to the Richard T. Doermer School of Business. As such, persons hired for a GA position are not to have jobs outside of Purdue Fort Wayne. As a Graduate Assistant you represent the university and are to present yourself in a professional manner.
