Speech-Language Pathology (M.S.)

Student Learning Outcomes
This degree is designed so that students complete the program with all the knowledge and skills required for application for a clinical fellowship (CF) experience. Successful completion of the fellowship may lead to certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and licensure with the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) and the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). Upon completion of this degree, students will be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
- Integrate knowledge of typical and atypical human communication and swallowing processes into the assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders and differences
- Understand scientific research principles so that they synthesize and apply evidence-based knowledge in the assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders and differences
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with clients, family members, caregivers, and professionals in allied fields
- Understand contemporary professional issues, ethics, and cultural responsiveness in clinical practice
- Engage in community-based activities to enrich their clinical education and interprofessional practice
