Tickets now available for Omnibus Speaker Tom Nichols on Oct. 19

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Tickets for “Defending Experts in an Anti-Factual Age,” by Tom Nichols—the first speaker in the Purdue University Fort Wayne 2021–22 Omnibus Speaker Series—will be available beginning Tuesday at noon.

To guarantee a seat, tickets should be reserved in advance, either online through the university’s website or at the Schatzlein Box Office in the Rhinehart Music Center lobby. The tickets are free on a first-come, first-served basis. The limit is four per person.

All tickets reserved online will automatically be emailed to patrons and can be printed at their convenience. Digital tickets accessible via smartphone are another option to help avoid standing in line at the box office on the night of the show. Tickets can also be picked up in person beginning one hour before the presentation at the Schatzlein Box Office.

In his 2017 book, The Death of Expertise: The Campaign Against Established Knowledge and Why It Matters, Nichols drew upon his expertise in international security affairs to make the argument that too many people have embraced the idea that experts should have no more standing in government or society than they themselves do.

Nichols is a professor at the Naval War College and at the Harvard Extension School. He is also a contributing writer at The Atlantic and for the USA Today Board of Contributors, in addition to being a five-time undefeated Jeopardy! champion who played in both the 1994 Tournament of Champions and the 2005 Ultimate Tournament of Champions.
