Rotary Club of Fort Wayne looks at 'Understanding AI'

Like the transition from carriage makers to auto producers, jobs will be displaced by artificial intelligence, Adolfo Coronado, computer science chairman at Purdue Fort Wayne, told Rotarians recently.

Coronado presented “Understanding AI,” a look at how AI has and likely will impact people’s lives in the future, at Rotary Club of Fort Wayne’s Sept. 8 meeting at Parkview Field.

“AI is a set of technologies,” Coronado said. “It is not a product. It is not one single thing.”

Before AI, programmers had to tell computers what to do to extract the desired data. “But nowadays computers can learn with a lot of data what they can do without human intervention.”
