Fort Wayne to host Midwest’s best young pianists

If you resolved to listen to better music in 2026, a major key might be making time for the Gene Marcus Piano Competition.

“The acoustics are phenomenal, and the piano itself is state-of-the-art, a nine-foot Steinway,” said Dr. Jonathan Young, Purdue University Fort Wayne Music lecturer. “The dedication and talent, it’s just really quite remarkable.”

The annual competition invites talented pianists aged 18 and under, within 100 miles of Fort Wayne.
