Swamp Chestnut Oak
Description
A white oak type, and primarily a southerly species found in low, wet woodlands. Its leaves have coarse, regular teeth and are densely downy on the lower surface. The fall color is bright red. A thick cap encloses one-third of the acorn, which is sweet and eaten by many species of wildlife.
