Join us for a fascinating journey through teas, tradition, and terrains. This free event is open to all ages, with a special focus on college students.

Series Event #1: BiodiversiTEA Highlights:

• Green Infrastructure: The Importance of Native Plants & Ecosystems
  Presented by Hannah Allen, Program Manager I – Watershed Management and Sustainability, Fort Wayne City Utilities
  Learn how green infrastructure and native plants protect local water quality. Free native seed cards and other giveaways will be available.

   

• Traditional Colombian Drinks: Chicha & Guarapo
  Presented in Spanish by Catalina Vigoya, Master’s Student in Ecology, Purdue Fort Wayne
  Live interpretation by Esteban Coria
  Discover how these traditional drinks reflect the relationship between nature and community from a biocultural perspective. Small tastings will be available.

   

• Teas of the Americas
  Presented by Esteban Coria, Bilingual Program and Partnership Specialist
  Explore Yerba Mate, Yaupon, Guayusa, and their cultural roots and environmental connections, including ties to the native Winterberry plant.

   

• Tea Tasting Station
  Enjoy samples of all featured holly teas: Yaupon, Guayusa, and Yerba Mate.
