Scott Bergeson is an Assistant Professor of Animal Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University Fort Wayne. He received his B.A. in Zoology (2009) from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale, his M.S. in Biology from Ball State University (2011), and his Ph.D. in Ecology/Evolution (2017) from Indiana State University.
Scott's research focuses on the spatial ecology and behavior of at-risk (endangered, threatened) wildlife. While he tends to focus this research on bats, Scott has worked with other mammals, birds, and reptiles as well. Research topics that Scott has focused on in the past include: 1) the effects of timber harvest on endangered bats, 2) the effects of urbanization on bats, 3) bat thermoregulation, 4) exposure of bats to neonicotinoid pesticides and other contaminants, 5) increasing the effectiveness of techniques used to survey for small mammals and mustelids.
