Kylie Stultz-Dessent is a versatile artist with a varied career as an educator, soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral performer. Prior to her appointment at PFW, Kylie served as Adjunct Instructor of Clarinet and Chamber Music at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She has performed with numerous regional orchestras including the Columbus Philharmonic, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, the Bloomington Chamber Singers Orchestra, and the Bloomington POPS Orchestra. She is a Selmer Performing Artist and has participated in several international music festivals.
Additionally, Kylie is a member of The Novacane Quartet, an award-winning clarinet quartet founded in 2014. The Novacane Quartet's accolades include the grand prize at the Chicago Clarinet Ensemble's International Clarinet Ensemble Competition in 2014, second place at the Macauley Chamber Music Competition in 2015, and semi-finalists in the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.
In addition to performing, Kylie is highly sought-after private clarinet instructor. In 2014, Kylie co-founded the Indiana Clarinet Experience (ICE), a week-long clarinet institute that focuses on clarinet instruction, chamber music, music appreciation, and musicality. She directs this camp annually each June.
Kylie received her Master's degree in 2014 from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory under the tutelage of Jonathan Gunn, and graduated with high honors from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with an undergraduate degree in clarinet performance in 2012, studying with James Campbell. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.
