Whether you are a tech guru or a bit of a novice, the following information will help you understand some of the IT Service requirements regarding equipment and printers.
Personal Equipment
For personally owned equipment, the only hardware requirement is that you have a wireless card to connect to the wireless network or a network card to connect to the wired network in Student Housing. Your operating system minimum requirements must be equal to or newer than Windows 8.1 or Mac OS 10.15. We recommend an operating system similar to or newer than Windows 10 or Mac OS 11.
*Microsoft will discontinue extended support for Windows 8.1 on January 10, 2023.
Other hardware and operating-system requirements are based on your needs and will depend on the software you run and the tasks you need to perform.
University Equipment

Printers
Students can print in any of the student labs using their semester printing allotment. Students can also print from anywhere to a select set of printers using Web Print, also found on goPFW.
Departments provide printing capabilities to their employees via local printers or shared office printers. Each department's budget provides printers, paper, toner,
- Installation of new printers
- Printer moves for office relocations, painting, and furniture installs
- Secure disposal of printers
- Verification that a printer problem requires outside service
IT Services does not provide repair services for printers. An outside vendor handles these.
