A Schedule That Works For You
Purdue Fort Wayne Human Resources and Office of Institutional Equity is pleased to offer information and guidelines for supervisors in regards to flexible work options.
These guidelines are being offered to assist supervisors and their exempt and nonexempt employees in determining if flexible work arrangements or remote work are viable options to consider to help employees balance their work schedule with other outside demands.
These arrangements are considered on a case by case basis and must be approved by the supervisor and the unit head (VC or designee). This privilege is extended in order to better the operational needs of the department, as well as the educational mission, vision and goals of the university. Questions should be directed to Kathy Worthman, Human Resources Generalist, at [email protected] or via phone at 260-481-0720.
The first step to request a remote or flexible work arrangement, is to complete a Flexible Work Arrangement Proposal Form. Once that form is completed and routed to your supervisor and you have discussed the proposal, the supervisor will reach out to Human Resources and HR will contact you with next steps.
Remote work (Telework) - Remote work options are also known as telecommuting, telework, virtual work, and mobile work. Remote work is used to describe work done outside the traditional on-site work environment. These jobs may be completely virtual or mobile, or may consist of arrangements that enable the employee to work from home a few days per week or month.
After your proposal is approved and your supervisor has communicated the approval to HR, please click HERE to access the necessary forms to complete your request for a Remote Work Agreement.
Flexible work - Flexible work arrangements refer to schedule changes that are intended to offer variation from the normal work day’s hours. For example, an employee who needs to work 9:00 to 6:00 rather than the regular 8:00 to 5:00 schedule.
