FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Purdue University Fort Wayne Chancellor Ronald L. Elsenbaumer announced the appointment today of Ruth L. Stone as the Vice Chancellor for Development for the university.

Stone is an experienced leader with more than a decade of experience working with organizations to increase philanthropic support and engagement, incorporate strategic planning and organizational management to solve problems, and realize operational efficiencies.

“I am delighted that Ruth Stone will be joining our leadership team,” says Chancellor Elsenbaumer. “This is an exciting and critical time in the trajectory of the university, and we are fortunate to welcome an individual with Ruth’s background and deep roots in the community.”

Stone most recently founded and was the president of her own consulting business, which helped nonprofit organizations achieve a greater impact in their communities. Prior to that, she served as the chief development officer for Turnstone, a Fort Wayne nonprofit organization that empowers people with disabilities of all ages and financial levels to reach their full potential.

Stone is already familiar with the university, having previously served as the project manager for its 50th anniversary public art project, Sculpture with Purpose, and as the project manager for the popular Tapestry: A Day for You.

“It is an exciting time to once again be a part of Purdue Fort Wayne,” says Stone. “Chancellor Elsenbaumer and university leaders have defined the institution’s vision for the future, and I am thrilled to be part of the implementation. I look forward to building upon past successes while creating a team that will increase alumni engagement and raise funds to support the university’s priorities.”

Stone is very engaged with the Fort Wayne community and serves on the boards of organizations that include Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne and United Way of Allen County. She also is a sustaining member and past president of the Junior League of Fort Wayne.

Stone earned a B.F.A. degree from Mundelein College of Loyola University and will graduate this spring with an Executive M.B.A. degree from the Purdue University Krannert School of Management. She is also an alumna of Leadership Fort Wayne.

Stone will begin her new role on Monday, April 15.
