Frank O'Bannon Grant
Requirements to maintain Frank O'Bannon Grant.
Students need to complete at least 24 or 30 hours each year in order to qualify for the next "On Time" or "Full Time" Academic year awards:
"On Time" award = 30 hours and you would receive maximum award
"Full Time " award = 24-29 hours and you receive 800 dollars a year less
Students can start their Frank O' Bannon award year in the fall or spring.
- FALL start would consists of fall-spring-summer
- SPRING start would consists of spring-summer-fall
Am I Eligible for a Frank O'Bannon Grant
The Frank O'Bannon Grant is given to Indiana residents that show financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students meeting the requirements will automatically be considered for the award by submitting a FAFSA by the Indiana State Deadline of March 10th. Any corrections must be made by May 15th.
Requirements:
- Must be an Indiana Resident by December 31st the year prior to applying for aid and remain a resident throughout academic year (parents must also be residents, if applicant is a dependent student)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or eligible noncitizen
- Must be a high school graduate or hold a GED or its equivalent
- Student must be enrolled full-time (12+ credit hours) by the end of the fourth week of classes
- Must be working towards an associates or first bachelors degree
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Available for summer, up to full year amount
- Must file the FAFSA by March 10th prior to the academic year of intended enrollment
Part-time award (Adult Student Grant)
Students that are enrolled part-time and therefore would not get the full award, can receive assistance for their courses. These amounts are automatically posted on eligible students' accounts around the mid-point of the semester.
Eligibility Requirements
You must have a FAFSA, as well as the Indiana Part-time Application, on file by July 1st and corrections completed by Aug 1st in order to be eligible. The Indiana Adult Student Application is completed online at http://www.in.gov/che/4499.htm. If a student applies and is accepted and goes full time for a semester they still have the option to receive this award, but once you do you cannot receive full time award for rest of the academic year.
Summer Awards
Students can receive summer awards if they have not received their full amount for the year. They do not have to be full time to receive.
Reminders
Indiana FAFSA Deadline is March 10th and any corrections must be made by May 15th of each year for the next Academic Year.
- 2016-2017 Academic Year: April 15, 2016 and May 15, 2016 to correct.
- 2017-2018 Academic Year: March 10, 2017 and May 15, 2017 to correct.
