Sexual Assault Awareness Month: Denim Day Information Table

Walb Student Union Lobby

On Denim Day, we stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault and raise our voices to challenge the culture of victim-blaming and sexual violence. Denim Day originated from a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court, where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices believed that because the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped her attacker remove them, thereby implying consent.

By wearing denim today, we reject this harmful notion and affirm that clothing choices are never an invitation for assault. We advocate for a world where consent is respected, survivors are supported, and perpetrators are held accountable. Together, let's work to create communities where everyone can feel safe and empowered to speak out against sexual violence. #DenimDay #SAAM
