Research Interests

I am a community engaged scholar studying moral pressure for responsible globalization at local and transnational levels of analysis. I am developing a New Model for Community Engagement that Combines Continuous Service with Discontinuous Learning. My current research projects 1) identify the influential governance role of reflexive religious leaders in dialogue with human rights activists and political leaders during times of increasing unrest and global risks, and 2) study collaboration with Blackford County Concerned Citizen's public health advocacy for Indiana residents. My book, Moral Pressure for Responsible Globalization: Religious Diplomacy in the Age of the Anthropocene, was published by Brill and is also available by e-book.

Courses Taught

Principles of Sociology, Community and the Built Environment, Environmental Sociology, Religion and Society, Risk Society, Society and the Individual, Social Theory, and Collective Behavior and Social Movements.
