Writing Concentration Goals

Graduates will demonstrate particular strengths in:

  • Understanding the principles of writing and rhetoric
  • Applying writing skills to original works of fiction, nonfiction, and/or poetry


    • Credits in three courses in writing (ENGL 20301 or courses above the 200 level) credits: 9
    • Credits in one course in writing above the 300 level Credits: 3
    • Credits in one additional course in classics, comparative literature, English, film, or folklore credits: 3


If you are interested in writing professionally, the department recommends a minor in business studies or journalism.
