In response to the university’s COVID-19 guidelines regarding large-scale community events, the annual Student Research and Creative Endeavor Symposium will be a virtual, non-competitive showcase.
Becoming a Faculty Judge
Your work as part of a faculty judging team for the student research symposium is crucial in making the symposium an educational experience for the student presenters. For the graduate and undergraduate student presenters, your experience, reflection, interaction, and encouragement enhances this professional event. Past judges have enjoyed working with colleagues from across campus and seeing the breadth of student research at Purdue Fort Wayne.
Faculty volunteers for symposium judging should complete the registration form. We make an effort to match disciplines or presenters and judges, but you may be asked to judge posters outside your academic or research area. Your responsibilities as a judge include the following:
- Being familiar with the judging rubric which will be available on this page and at the symposium
- Completing an evaluation sheet for each assigned poster in your judging time slots and provide as many comments and suggestions on the sheet as possible for the presenter
- Submitting evaluation sheets to the symposium staff
- Providing feedback and comments to symposium staff so we can continue to improve the symposium
Judging assignments and times will be sent out via e-mail no later than the week preceding the event. If you have questions, please contact Tina Gasnarez.
