First-Year
You have what it takes to be a Mastodon—to join the Herd of the ambitious, the inspired, and the bold. As a first-year student, you’re new to college, but we know you’re ready to take thunderous steps toward the life you want. Take a look at the following information to learn how to get started.
Criteria for Admission
The Office of Admissions will base your admission eligibility on the following criteria:
- High school GPA
- Successful completion of a Core 40 diploma (for Indiana residents) or a strong college-prep curriculum
- SAT or ACT exam scores
- Advanced Placement (AP) exam scores, if applicable (see our AP page for more information about earning Purdue Fort Wayne credit from AP exams)
If you’re a homeschooled student, your eligibility will be based on the same criteria. Learn more about creating and submitting homeschool transcripts.
If you’re a permanent resident of the United States and have completed high school
If you’ve been out of high school for more than two years, you’re considered an adult learner. As an adult learner, you’re not required to submit SAT or ACT scores with your application. GED scores may be used in place of a high school transcript as part of your application criteria.
Deadlines
If you meet certain application and deposit deadlines, you will qualify for housing, advising, and scheduling benefits. See the Fall 2021 Application Deadlines for more information.
Transcripts
Since we require official transcripts to be sent directly to us from your educational institution, it isn’t necessary to upload them through the application portal. If you upload your transcript yourself, it will not be considered official. You have the following options to provide Purdue Fort Wayne with your official transcript:
- Mail: Office of Admissions, 2101 East Coliseum Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN 46805
- Digital credential service: Parchment
- Email: transcript@pfw.edu
- In-person: all transcripts must be in their original sealed envelope
Test Scores
Purdue Fort Wayne strongly encourages all students to take the SAT. While not a requirement for admission to our university for spring 2021, standardized test scores are an important part of determining eligibility and calculating an award for the Purdue Fort Wayne Scholarship. You have the following options to provide Purdue Fort Wayne with your test scores:
- SAT: collegeboard.com
- ACT: act.org
- Mail: Office of Admissions, 2101 East Coliseum Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN 46805
- Email: transcript@pfw.edu
If your test scores are listed on your official high school transcripts, we will accept scores from the transcript.
