Mark Jordan is Professor of Biology and Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences at Purdue University Fort Wayne. He received his B.A. in Biology (1992) from Luther College, and his M.S. (1994) and Ph.D. (1999) in Biology from the University of New Mexico. Before joining Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2003, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Zoology (London).
Mark is broadly interested in the use of molecular genetic tools to address questions concerning the distribution, connectivity, history, and viability of vertebrate populations. Recent work of his research group has focused on: 1) assessment of the conservation genetic status of Blanding's Turtle and Spotted Turtle, 2) development of environmental DNA survey techniques for use in spatial ecology, and 3) the ecology of freshwater turtles in urban settings. In addition to research, he is interested in the development of research experiences within traditional college courses and he works with local partners that have an interest in wildlife conservation.
