Long-time client of ISBDC expands into producing hand sanitizer
FORT WAYNE, Ind.—A longtime client of the Northeast Indiana Small Business Development Center is now part of the market force expanding their product lines to include high-quality hand sanitizers in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Annie Oakley Perfumery started out 40 years ago in the home of founder Renee Gabet and later moved to a factory in Ligonier. The business has relied on the services offered by the Purdue University Fort Wayne-hosted center such as assistance with business planning, strategy, and market research, to name just a few.
The product expansion was a natural progression for the company according to Gabet, as they were already using an 80%, perfumer’s-grade of grain alcohol to manufacture its natural perfumes.
“We created a new hand sanitizer, adding moisturizers into the formula to keep the hands soft,” Gabet said, noting that the products are produced "in accordance with hand sanitizer formula specifications of both the World Health Organization and the U.S. Federal Drug Administration,” she added.
The hand sanitizer is available in wholesale quantities for retailers and bulk ordering is available for factories, health care facilities, and businesses. The company is currently donating some of its new products for use by first responders in the firm’s local community.
