Benefits of Square Breathing
One of July's Healthy Boiler Challenges is Square Breathing—a short guided meditation using four-step deep breathing exercise. This simple mindfulness technique can be used as a tool to:
- Calm your mind and bring you into the present moment.
- Reduce stress or feelings of being overwhelmed.
- Improve concentration.
- Help you to refocus.
- Lower your heart rate and blood pressure.
- Promote restful sleep when used as part of your sleep routine.
- Ground your emotions.
- Move you out of the "fight or flight" state to a more restful state.
- Become part of your daily routine to start your day, take a breather at your desk, and end your day.
- Benefits-eligible employees plus covered spouses who have already joined the Healthy Boiler Program may log in to the Healthy Boiler portal, then scroll to Healthy Boiler Workshops. Hover over the workshop's square and click the "Submit" to register.
