Anthropology Club Lunchtime Lecture Series Presents: Professor Kathyn Graber, IU "Mobilizing Minorities: Language Politics, and Indigenous Activism in Wartime Russia"
Kettler Hall, Room G46
When a country goes to war, what happens to its ethnic minorities?
Professor Kathryn Graber is going to join us through Zoom to discuss minority languages, ethnic politics, and new forms of indigenous activism in the context of wartime Russia. She will analyze four political events from before and after Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine to show how, while these events have underscored the disenfranchisement of indigenous peoples in Russia, they have also helped to galvanize indigenous belonging and activism in a growing diaspora.
