Anthropology Club Lunchtime Lecture Series Presents: Dr. Harold Kory Cooper: Innovation in the Far North
Kettler Hall, Room G46
Geological native copper occurs in the Northwest Coast, western Subarctic, and central Canadian Arctic and Subarctic. In all three regions there is archaeological evidence for its use by hunter-gathers before the arrival of Europeans and metal trade goods.
This presentation is an overview of several years of research into the innovation of native copper metallurgy by indigenous hunter-gatherer societies across far northwestern North America.
Dr. Kory Cooper is an Associate Professor for the department of Anthropology, School of Materials Engineering (Courtesy Appointment), Division of Environmental and Ecological Engineering (Faculty Affiliate).
