Juan Barrientes is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. He has a record of accomplishment as a full-time police officer with nearly three decades of active service. Professor Barrientes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University Fort Wayne (2014).
His long and active career in law enforcement, which started in 1995, saw him ascend through the ranks to become captain and director of training/academy instructor. Professor Barrientes served for almost 20 years on the elite Emergency Services Team of the Fort Wayne Police Department and as an assistant team leader with more than 1,300 tactical operations. With his specialization in police training, he has been called upon to testify as an expert in the use of force incidents. Professor Barrientes serves on the Master Instructor Board for the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board. His significant background in law enforcement brings real world experience to complement the criminal justice field of study. Prior to joining this department, Professor Barrientes had taught as an adjunct faculty for the Department of Organizational Leadership at Purdue University Fort Wayne
