Blood Health Screening at Purdue Fort Wayne  

Blood Health Screenings are an important part of maintaining good health. That's why Purdue Fort Wayne partners with Lab Corp to provide confidential health screenings throughout the year. This year a new Wellness Panel is being offered for FREE** to all campus employees/spouses, currently enrolled students on campus, and retirees/spouse (one per calendar year), as well as other single non-fasting tests.

Payment methods have also changed—cash or check are the acceptable payment methods. Make checks payable to Purdue Fort Wayne. Payment is due at the time of service.

Wellness Panel

This test is an excellent tool for determining general health.

  • Wellness Panel includes full lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, LDL, cholesterol/HDL ratio) and Chem 14, a full blood chemistry panel (includes glucose, kidney/ liver function and more).
  • In preparation for this test, please fast 10-12 hours. Sips of water with regular medications are okay. 
  • **Cost: Free once per calendar year for all campus students, employees/spouses, and retirees/spouses. Others: $15.00

Non-Fasting Tests Offered at Additional Low Cost

  • Blood Type: This information is useful when a blood transfusion becomes necessary or if you wish to donate blood. Cost: $12.00
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): This test is used to evaluate your overall health and detect a wide range of disorders, including anemia, infection and leukemia. Cost: $10.00
  • C-Reactive Protein:  This test measured CPR produced in liver and muscle cells within the coronary arteries. Elevated CPR may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, caner and lupus. Cost: $20.00
  • Hemoglobin A1C: This test measures average blood sugar levels for the past 3 months. Cost: $20.00
  • Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA):  This test in combination with a doctor's digital rectal examination is useful in alerting men to the possible presence of prostate cancer and other prostate abnormalities. Cost: $20.00
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): This test detects several thyroid gland disorders which may cause weight gain, depression, forgetfulness, fatigue, vision problems, enlarged thyroid glands, and other health problems.   Cost: $20
  • Vitamin D: This screening measures the 25 vitamin D levels. Deficiency can be associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension. Cost: $35.00
