Diversity and Multicultural Affairs

Perkins Initiative

With support from Indiana’s Perkins initiative (see below), the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs and the Purdue University Fort Wayne Department of Biology teamed up with Vincennes University in Fall 2017 to develop a Biology enrichment program for students at East Allen University and North Side High School in Fort Wayne as part of VU’s Early College Program. A group of upper-level undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty members, meets regularly with high school students enrolled in dual-credit Biology to offer advice and assistance for labs and enrichment experiences designed to pique students’ scientific curiosity.

The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs is home to the programs of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006. The goal of the Perkins program is to develop the academic, career, and technical skills of students enrolled in Career Technical Education/Science Technology Engineering Math (CTE/STEM) degree programs.
