Meet Our Staff


ALISA THOMPSON (INTERIM DIRECTOR): Alisa is the Assistant Director in the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Trine University and a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is a proud and active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and of Turner Chapel A.M.E. Church. Her past work experience includes working for the Fort Wayne Police Department, being the Chair of the Criminal Justice Program at ITT, a Family Case Manager for The Department of Child Services in the State of Indiana and currently an Adjunct Professor for Ivy Tech Community College. She was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and she is a proud mother of two young men.

CICELLE BEEMON (STUDENT OUTREACH COORDINATOR – CENTER FOR WOMEN AND RETURNING ADULTS): A native of Pomona, CA, Cicelle has a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies, with minors in Communication and Human Services from Purdue University Fort Wayne. She joined the ODMA staff in 2013 as the 21st Century Scholars Support Specialist through AmeriCorps Scholar Corps, and has been the Student Outreach Coordinator in the Center for Women and Returning Adults since July 2017. She is a member of the Allen County College and Career Coalition Success and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She was elected IPFW’s Homecoming Queen in 2016.

KAYLA FRICK: Kayla has been a co-coordinator of Being First since Fall, 2016. A graduate of Sidney High School in Sidney, OH, she is a sophomore majoring in Information Technology. In addition to her work with Being First, she took the lead in redesigning and converting the CWRA and ODMA websites. She is active in the Trio Club and PFW Campus Ministry.

NALLELY CARDENAS: Born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN, Nallely is a business major at Purdue Fort Wayne. In the past, she has been the vice president of the key club and captain of the girl's varsity soccer team. She is also an alumni of the Upward Bound program. In Nallely's spare time she enjoys going to sports events and watching documentaries. 

KENDALL COX: Kendall is a graduate of Normal Community West High School, class of 2017. He is from Bloomington, Illinois and loves to meet new people as well as help them whenever he can. He enjoys quality time with friends and family, and he enjoys cooking food, which is why he is AKA Chef Cox. Kendall came to Purdue Fort Wayne the year of  2017-2018 to study Hospitality Management in hopes to someday cook in a famous, well-made restaurant establishment. Kendall is also a part of the student organization, Black Student Union (BSU), where he hopes to make a difference in school and in the community.
