Statistical Profile Update

The Statistical Profile has been separated into three main categories; Student Information, Faculty Information, and Financial Information. Moving forward the Office of Institutional Research will maintain and update the first two sections (Students / Faculty) via interactive dashboards. These dashboards allow for consumers to slice, or filter, the data into specific views to better respond to data requests or inquires. Currently there are 12 interactive dashboards maintained by the Office of Institutional Research. Over the course of the next few months, additional dashboards will be created in order to present all of the data that was included in the historical Statistical Profiles. At this point, the following dashboards are available to view. Please note that you must have a Purdue Career Account username and password to access the dashboards. The available dashboards are listed below, along with the table numbers that correspond with the most recent Statistical Profile (2016 – 2017).

Student Enrollment: (Statistical Profile Tables: 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 21)

The bar graph and tabular data presented in this view represent Student Enrollment data by Season (Fall, Spring and Summer). The view can be filtered to show Total Enrollment, Student Level, Student Classification, Gender, Race / Ethnicity, College, Department, Residency, FT / PT Status, and Age Range distribution. The filters on the dashboard can be customized by the following data measures: Headcount and Full-Time Equivalency (FTE). Note: The Summer Season represents the combination of Summer I and Summer II.

Student Residency: (Statistical Profile Tables: 1 through 4)

The tabular data represents Residency data for students by Season (Fall, Spring, and Summer). The view can be sorted by State of Residency (non-International Students), Indiana County residency, Allen County residency by Zip Code, and Nation of Residency (International students). The address data was provided by students at time of admission.

Student Retention:

This dashboard presents data on retention, graduation, and stop out rates based on Fall Census data. The dashboard can be sorted by Persistence Period (Fall-Spring, Fall-Fall), College, Department, Student Classification, and Class Level. The view can be further sorted by student level filters such as, Beginner student indicator, Matric student indicator, Full-Time / Part-Time status, and Residency designation.

Majors Declared:

The view shows a disaggregated count of declared majors by degree level (undergraduate / graduate degrees) in the current academic year. The view can be filtered by semester. The available filters for this view include College, Department, Gender, Race / Ethnicity, and Student Type (Beginner / Non-Beginner).

Annual Degrees Awarded: (Statistical Profile Table: 23)

The first view shows the percent distribution summary of annual degrees awarded by degree type: Certificates, Associates, Bachelors, and Masters. The second view further outlines the number of degrees awarded, the number of graduates, the % of degrees awarded to females, the % of degrees awarded to minority students, and the % of degrees awarded to international students by degree type. The available filters for this view include by Campus (IU/ PU), College, Department, Gender, and Race / Ethnicity.

Degrees Awarded – Primary & Secondary Programs: (Statistical Profile Table: 23)

The view is a disaggregation of the Annual Degrees Awarded dashboard. The view lists all primary and secondary degrees awarded by major. The available filters for this view include by College, Department, Gender, and Race / Ethnicity.

Employees by Credit Hours and Tuition Revenue:

The line graph view analyzes the percentage of total credit hour production by Employee Group. The table view calculates total tuition costs by the total number of credit hours produced by the specific Employee Group. The available filters for this view include Employee Group, College, Department, Dual-Credit indicator, and Distance Education indicator.

Faculty Workload:

This view is divided into three separate sections. The first section enumerates the FTE of Faculty Categories (Full-Time, Part-Time, etc.) by the specific Faculty Activity Type (Instructional, Research, General Instructional Support, Administration, and Other). The second section analyzes Enrollment and Credit Hour Ratios by Instructional FTE and Total FTE by Faculty Category. The third section is a course level detail that identifies course level information including faculty headcount, number of sections taught and the percentage of small class-section taught. The available filters for this view include Term, College, Department, and Faculty Category.

Credit Hours by Major and Course Level: (Statistical Profile Table: 20)

The view outlines the percent distribution of end of term credit hour production taught to majors and non-majors by course level (undergraduate / graduate). The view also shows percent distribution of credit hour production by disaggregated course level (i.e. 100-200 level, 300-400 level, Graduate, and Dual-Credit). The available filters for this view include Employee Group, College, Department, and Distance Education indicator.

Historical Course Analysis:

Three interactive dashboards have been created in order to analyze course offerings at IPFW from Fall 2002. The Historical Course Analysis dashboard provides a general overview of courses offered in a given Season (Fall, Spring, and Summer). The view aggregates the number of sections offered, the course enrollment at the time of the census, the maximum seat capacity for the course, and the subsequent fill rate (shown as a percentage). The Historical Course Analysis - Course Section Level dashboard is a more detailed look into the course sections offered. This view shows the pertinent details for specific course sections. The last course section analysis dashboard, the Course Section Time of Day Analysis expands upon the Section Level Analysis. This view aggregates specific course sections by the time of day at which the course begins; Morning Class Times, Afternoon Class Times, and Evening Class Times. All three dashboards can be filtered by Season, College, Department, Course, Course Section, Course Modality, General Education Course indicator, and by the specific Course Level (100 Level, 200 Level, etc.).

Course Grade Distribution - Course Level

This dashboard aggregates grade distribution by course, from Fall 2013 to Summer 2017. The view can be filtered by Season (Fall, Spring, and Summer), College, Department, Course, Course Modality (Traditional, Online, etc.), Instructor and if the course satisfies a General Education Requirement. The courses detailed in this analysis are those that can impact a student's GPA (Course Grades: A - F, W).

Course Grade Distribution - Section Level

This dashboard aggregates grade distribution by course section, from Fall 2013 to Summer 2017. The view can be filtered by Season (Fall, Spring, and Summer), College, Department, Course, Course Modality (Traditional, Online, etc.), Instructor, and if the course satisfies a General Education Requirement.
