Marcia Dixson, Associate Vice-Chancellor for Teaching

Marcia Dixson is currently and Professor and Associate Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning at Indiana University Purdue University, Fort Wayne (IPFW). Before that, she was the chair of the Department of Communication for ten years following three years as Director of the Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching and seven years as the Basic Course Director for the Fundamentals of Speech Communication course. She is also a member of the FACET (Indiana University’s Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching) Steering Committee, and a contributing editor of the FACET Quick Hits: Teaching with Technology. 

Her current research area, communication in the online teaching environment, has yielded three top panel papers in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning at the National Communication Association Conference as well as publications in Communication Education, Journal of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and the Journal of Asynchronous Learning Networks.  She has taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of interpersonal communication, family communication, business and professional communication, research methods, communication in the classroom, nonverbal communication, relational communication, and the dark side of communication.
