Aid for Summer Classes

Aid for Summer Classes

No financial aid is reserved from the Fall and Spring semesters to be used for the Summer session.

Summer is a trailing semester, meaning it follows Fall and Spring.  Therefore, financial aid eligibility for Summer classes is based on remaining eligibility from the current academic year, not the academic year that begins in the Fall.  You will not have any summer financial aid eligibility if you have used your financial aid during the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic year.

If you are eligible for the Pell Grant, and you did not attend full time either  Fall or Spring, you may have eligibility for summer.   However, the Pell grant will not cover the full amount of your tuition and fees.

If you have a Chancellor’s or another scholarship that has an option for summer funding, then summer aid could be available to you.

Students eligible for the Child of Certain Veterans or Public Safety Officers Supplemental Grant (CVO) award can use it in Summer. You must have a current FAFSA on file, and if you were selected to complete the verification process, it must be completed before your CVO can be awarded for Summer.

Important note:  If there's a chance you may take Summer classes, remember to keep some of your Direct Loan funds available.  If you take all of your Direct loan funds in Fall and Spring, you will not have any left for Summer.  Direct loans also require you to be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours over the summer enrollment period.
