Center for Women and Returning Adults

Omicron-Psi National Honor Society

What is Omicron-Psi?

Founded as a non-profit organization in 1993, Omicron-Psi honors the academic and community leadership excellence of non-traditional students. Inductees must have a Grade Point Average (GPA)of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate involvement in three or more community/school organizations.

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) established an Omicron-Psi chapter in 1997 and inducted six members in its first year. In 2003, the Center For Women and Returning Adults (CWRA) worked cooperatively with the Continuing Studies and General Studies departments to re-establish Omicron-Psi for adult students. Since then, nearly 800 IPFW students have been inducted into Omicron Psi.

Students whose GPA’s make them eligible for induction receive a letter in March inviting them to apply for membership on the national society’s website. They will then be notified of the decision and invited to the induction ceremony.
