The university website communicates information directly to our prospective and current students, community members, alumni supporters, and area business partners, along with faculty and staff members.
The Editorial Guidelines explore how to present information both online and through print in ways that support your goals and communicate our brand.
We use the Chicago Manual of Style for university writing, along with a few of our own specific preferences:
- Oxford Comma—We use the Oxford Comma for clarity, comprehension, and elegance.
- Spell whole numbers less than 10—Spell out small numbers zero through nine.
- Use numerals for 10 or higher—Write the numbers for 10 and anything higher (33, 128, 1984, and so on).
- Put periods in degrees—Add periods when abbreviating degrees (B.A., M.S., Ph.D.).
