Best Wishes for the Future

Vicky Carwein, November 1, 2017

Dear Campus Community,

As Ron Elsenbaumer begins as IPFW’s next Chancellor this morning, I want to again welcome him and send my best regards for a tenure of much success as he leads Purdue Fort Wayne into the next chapter of its development.   I have had the pleasure to spend time with Chancellor Elsenbaumer and I am more confident than ever that he is the right person to take the university forward and to capitalize on the many opportunities that lie ahead.  His background and portfolio of experiences are just what are needed at this time of change and mission refinement as the institution realigns to become Purdue Fort Wayne.

I thank all of you who have worked and continue to work so hard to envision a distinguished future for Purdue Fort Wayne that builds on the strengths of the past but is not confined by the past, and who welcome and embrace change in order to realize that future.  You will be an invaluable asset to Chancellor Elsenbaumer.

Many difficult decisions and actions have been required over the past few years to begin to stabilize a precarious financial situation and address large declines in enrollment.  As a result, the campus today is stronger and positioned to take advantage of the many opportunities before it.  More hard work lies ahead, but under Chancellor Elsenbaumer’s leadership and with the support of those who are committed to building a new Purdue Fort Wayne characterized by innovative and distinguished programs, the PFW of the future is destined for much success!

Again, my best wishes to the campus community and especially to Chancellor Elsenbaumer as he begins his tenure today.  Go Dons!
