Academic Advising

The Academic Advising Council suggests that you browse through the Academic Advising Manual at least once.

If you are a new advisor, we suggest that you read the narrative sections on the advising process and review them as needed until you feel comfortable with the work. The section on policies and procedures may not require close reading, but you need to be able to find specific sections as new questions or problems occur. Be prepared to receive and insert replacement pages and additions to this manual. You may even want to add a section relative to your department’s policies.
