That's what it would be like for a native of China to ignore Chinese New Year, Qian Williams said. She's a member of Fort Wayne Chinese Families and Friends Association, the nonprofit that orchestrated Sunday's Chinese New Year celebration at IPFW.

The IPFW chapter of Kappa Delta Pi will host a free workshop on becoming a substitute teacher from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in the Walb Student Union, rooms 222-223. Participants can apply for a substitute teaching permit and learn about subbing from an elementary school principal, a recruiter and a retired superintendent. Substitute teachers in Indiana must have a high school diploma.

The inductees will be Ron Leef, Jim Burton, Ruth Wiegmann, Kent Hormann and Dean Pantazi.  Hormann, a Heritage High School and Ball State graduate, started his professional career at WFFT in 1978 before moving to WKJG in 1981. He has been part of broadcasting Fort Wayne sports for 40 years and has called games for local high school, college and professional sports, including the Komets, Fury, Wizards, TinCaps and IPFW events on television.
