FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The Division of Continuing Studies (DCS) at Purdue University Fort Wayne is excited to announce the debut of its new Laptop Lab. Businesses can provide training to their employees in the comfort of their own office through this innovative new service.

DCS offers professional development opportunities both on and off campus. While the courses are immensely popular, a unique need was discovered, for which a solution was developed.

“We understand that it’s not always possible for a group of employees to be out of the office at the same time. We also understand the importance of providing teams with the skills and training they need to be more effective in their role,” said Melissa Kurten, director of training outreach. “We’ve always been able to deliver on-site training, but we found very few companies have a computer lab. We saw this barrier and came up with a solution to overcome it.”

Here’s how it works: an employer signs up for a qualifying class with up to 12 employees. Training Outreach then works with the employer to coordinate the training time and details. All the employer needs to supply is a conference room (or space with adequate tables and chairs) and a Wi-Fi connection. That’s it!

The instructor brings all of the required equipment to the on-site class. There are no additional fees for utilizing the Laptop Lab. Employers pay a flat fee that includes a set number of instructional hours and all materials.

Pricing for the training in the course descriptions can be found here.
