FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Just imagine it: Ben Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson, together again, leading the Fort Wayne community in a reading of the Declaration of Independence! That’s what will happen, Friday, Jan. 16, at noon, in the rotunda of the Allen County Courthouse in downtown Fort Wayne as Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne officially celebrates the opening of The Remnant Trust at IPFW with “ United We Read.”

Besides Adams, Franklin, and Jefferson, other historical characters will be present. Local community and government leaders have been invited to the program, as have several local official Remnant Trust elementary schools. IPFW’s University Singers will also perform at the event.

Following the reading, invited guests will be taken by a trolley for the opening of The Remnant Trust exhibit, located just inside the Helmke Library on the IPFW campus. They will be the first to go through the exhibit and to see and hold the historic documents.

Another “United We Read,” this time on campus, will begin at 3 p.m. in Neff Hall, Room 101. Students, faculty, staff, and the public are invited to attend. The Declaration of Independence will be read aloud at this gathering, too. read aloud.
