Purdue University Fort Wayne and Parkview Health Expand Tapestry Scholarship Opportunities

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Purdue University Fort Wayne and Parkview Health are excited to announce an expansion of scholarship opportunities through Tapestry, as the number of programs with eligible students increases in 2019.

Tapestry began in 2002 as a way to enrich the lives of women in northeast Indiana and raise money for scholarships for students at the university. The mission continues today with the goal of providing a day of inspiration, renewal, and education for women in all stages of life, while raising money to benefit students in their pursuit of a higher education.

“Parkview Health is proud to be the exclusive partner with Purdue Fort Wayne for Tapestry and to provide students across the region the opportunity for scholarships,” says Dena Jacquay, chief human resources officer at Parkview Health.

“We are thrilled that we can expand this partnership,” says Kathleen Jackson, Tapestry project manager at Purdue Fort Wayne. “We now have the opportunity to offer these scholarships to students in even more of our academic programs, and that is really exiting to us.”

Scholarships will now benefit students at Purdue University Fort Wayne and Indiana University Fort Wayne. At Purdue Fort Wayne, programs are communication disorders, human services, psychology, and early childhood education. Eligible programs at IU Fort Wayne include medical imaging, dentistry, and nursing.

“While keeping some of the traditional health sciences programs, we’ve added other areas of study that are important to our community—for example, early childhood education,” says Jacquay. “We are passionate about the strong impact that quality early education can have on the future workforce across northeast Indiana.”

Over the past 17 years, nearly $1 million has been raised through Tapestry. The Tapestry Parkview endowment has grown to more than $600,000 and 89 students have received scholarships.

Tapestry is scheduled for May 3, 2019, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
