Allegheny Serviceberry is a small tree 10-25 feet in height. Snow-white flowers appear with the bronze-colored new leaves in early spring. New leaves are smooth beneath. Leaf color is a beautiful orange-red in the fall. The sweet, juicy purple-black fruit is eaten by birds, including the ruffed grouse, and white-tailed deer, raccoon, opossum, and fox. This fruit was a favorite of Native Americans.
